Agar Agar is a seaweed based gelatin. It is a great vegan substitute for grocery store gelatin and can be used in the same way to make puddings, marshmallows, and jellies or as a general thickener. Make sure to dissolve in warm water before adding to your dish. Raindrop cakes are Japanese inspired cakes made of water and agar agar and topped with soybean powder and black sugar syrup.
When taken in bulk, agar agar should not be used by people with bowel obstructions or esophageal/intestinal narrowing. Do not take if you have difficulty swallowing. If you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty swallowing or breathing after using this product, find immediate medical attention.

If you would like individual 1 oz bags, please add a note to your order at check out. All of our zipper bags can be composted at home.
