Hibiscus & Happy Hour

I think everyone could use something bright and bubbly right now. That’s why we took one of our favorite tea elements - tart and red hibiscus and made a simple syrup that can be added to tea, lemonade, or our pick - a Prosecco cocktail.

Hibiscus Simple Syrup

The ratio for this simple syrup is 2:2:1 sugar : water : hibiscus.

That means you can use 1 cup of sugar for every 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of hibiscus. (Or whatever measurement you want.)

Combine all ingredients in a pot over medium heat. Stir and simmer until all the sugar is dissolved. Strain the syrup and let cool. Syrup will store in the fridge up to 1 month.

Italian 75

A French 75 is a champagne cocktail with gin. A Dutch 75 is a champagne cocktail with vodka. An Italian 75 is a Prosecco cocktail with vodka and whatever I happen to have on hand.

Ingredients:

1 ounce Vodka - We used Hanger One’s Honeysuckle Vodka but a Citrus flavored one works beautifully
1/2 ounce Hibiscus Simple Syrup
3 ounces Prosecco or until your glass is full

Directions:

Mix simple syrup and vodka well. Pour into glass and top off with Prosecco.

Garnish with lemon, mint, or rosemary.
