This "little blackberry" chile are smoked jalapenos but are the smaller, thicker cousin of Chipotles you often come across. Jalapenos are picked while still green before they are fully ripe and smoked in a large pit. Smoke is funnel to the chiles through a tunnel with a fire at the other end. As well as richly smoked, these chiles have a chocolatey note to them. Try dry toasting and then rehydrating in shallow water. One chile is an approximate equivalent to one teaspoon of powder.
