Demerara Sugar is sugar evaporated from pressed sugar cane juice. The sugar gets its name from the colonial region it originated, now present day Guyana.
While it has a similar light brown color as turbinado, it is not as strong in molasses.
The sugar crystals do not melt as easily into batters so they are not a one to one replacement for white sugar in some recipes. You can swap them for brown sugar or confectioner's sugar for a different texture. The large crystals will create sugar crusts on muffins, breads, and cookies.
Use in hot drinks and simple syrups to give your beverage a slightly toffee flavor.
Available in bulk by weight or in prepacked containers. Bulk orders are packed into one bag unless otherwise requested. Prepacked containers are packed by weight, not volume. Sizing guides are approximate and may change from harvest to harvest.

Items ordered by ounces or pounds are packed into one bulk bag. For example, if you order 5 ounces of peppercorns, you will receive one bag with 5 ounces of peppercorns inside. If you would like individual 1 oz bags, please add a note to your order at check out. All of our zipper bags can be composted at home.
