Dried pomegranate arils, also called anardana, are tart and sweet. They are a great pantry staple to have when fresh pomegranates are in low supply. You can add the arils to your own trail mix or just snack on them alone. They are used in a variety of Mediterranean, Indian, and Persian dishes to add brightness to simmering dishes. Try adding pomegranate to braised lamb or a slow cooked gravy. Toss with vegetables before roasted and finish with a drizzle of spiced yogurt. Grind and add to spice mixes or chutneys and jams for a pop of molasses like sweetness.
